COMPETITION

AATD Competitions have Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern Expressive/Contemporary, Belly Dancing, Line Dancing, Folk/National Dance, Hip-Hop & Theatrical (Song & Dance), Dance Show events for Solo, Duo (mixed or same sex), Groups in Juvenile, Junior & Adult Sections. Events are also conducted in Couple Dances such as Theater Arts Exhibition, Street Latino, Argentine Tango, Ballroom & Latin in both International and American styles.

Competitions are conducted using the Competition Rules of the International Dance Organization, IDO which is the largest Dance Organization conducting World Dance Sport Championships. The IDO conducts more than 200 World Dance Sport Championship Events Annually in various disciplines and age divisions with millions of participants training in IDO disciplines worldwide.

The Competition Rules of the World Dance Council, WDC are used for Ballroom & Latin American Dancing Events. WDC is the world governing body for Professional & Amateur Ballroom & Latin American Dance.

AATD PROFESSIONAL DEGREES & MEMBERSHIP

AATD Membership is open to Professional Dance Teachers by way of Examination. AATD conducts Professional Degree Examinations in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern Expressive/Contemporary, Belly Dancing, Line Dancing, Folk/National Dance, Hip-Hop, Alternative Rhythms, Street Latino, Modern Ballroom, New Vogue, Rock ’n’ Roll & Latin American styles of Dance. The AATD examination is practical, written and oral in assessing the candidates for their degree.

Degrees are Bronze Teacher, Silver Associate, Gold Coach I, II & III; Ruby Adjudicator I, II & III; Sapphire Licentiate, Emerald Master & Diamond Fellow.

AATD prides itself on the quality of its Professional Teachers. Professional Degree Examinations are of the highest standards where those being examined need to be well prepared for examination to ensure success in obtaining their Degree. The examination will involve practical, written and oral assessment. Emphasis is on a good standard being displayed in practical, a good knowledge in the written section and the ability to communicate and educate in the oral section.

MEDAL TESTS

The AATD Medal Syllabus Examination is a practical test, but can be written &/or oral depending on the needs of individual academies. In practical tests a good display of technical principles and musicality within movement will form part of the assessment. The candidate will be assessed on their dancing within the level being examined. Written &/or oral examinations will cover technical data within the style and level being tested.

AATD has a full syllabus for Grades 1-6 plus Bronze, Bronze Star, Silver, Silver Star, Gold, Gold Star, Ruby, Ruby Star, Sapphire, Sapphire Star, Emerald, Emerald Star, Diamond, Diamond Star and Oscar Medal Awards. These awards form the basis of the AATD Teacher Training Requirements with additional detailed information applied to Professional Dance Teacher Training Programs.
